Senior year is a busy year. In this year, with college planning, applications, and decisions,

there is much for you to think about.  As you do this, glance back on your accomplishments

and look ahead to graduation.

Regardless of whether the plans for the future you have chosen include an apprenticeship,

trade school, two-year college, or four-year college or university, the steps are similar.

Whatever your plans, there are programs to fit your goals.

Senior year snapshot:

Academics. Connect with your school counselor early in the year to be sure your courses

meet college prep requirements as well as fulfill high school graduation requirements.

Does your school require a senior project? Remember, admissions counselors will be

reviewing your mid-year report and final transcript.

Standardized tests. These may include the ACT, SAT, SAT subject tests, and/or AP exams.

There are month-by-month tips available for each semester provide you with registration

and test dates.

The application process. During the fall, you will complete the list of colleges that you

want to apply and then make applications to these colleges. Campus visits, interviews, recommendations, and essays are all part of the process of applying for college.

Money for college. There is money available from both the State and Federal Government assistance to help pay for college, but you’ll need to apply.

Acceptances, awards, and decisions. As college acceptances and financial aid decisions arrive, the focus turns to comparing offers and making your final choice.

You can do it! Don’t be overwhelmed; we’re here to help you along the way. Check with your counselor and stay on course throughout the year.
